Our Story

About A Love
4 Paws

A home-based cattery dedicated to Himalayan, Exotic Shorthair, Persian, and Himalayan Munchkin kittens. Not a commercial facility a real home, raising real companions.

How It Started

It Started With One Cat

The first Himalayan came into our lives almost by accident a friend of a friend had a litter, and what was supposed to be a quick visit turned into a two-hour stay and a kitten wrapped in a blanket on the back seat of the car on the way home. That cat changed everything.

There is something particular about flat-faced breeds Himalayans, Persians, Exotic Shorthairs that is hard to describe to someone who hasn’t lived with one. They are not aloof the way some cats can be. They are present. They follow you from room to room not to demand anything, but simply because they want to be near you. They sit on the arm of the sofa and watch you read. They greet you at the door. They are, in the truest sense, companions.

That first Himalayan led to a second. A second led to a deeper interest in responsible breeding. A deeper interest in breeding led to years of learning about genetics, health testing, nutrition, socialisation, the mechanics of raising a well-adjusted kitten in a home environment. A Love 4 Paws grew from that learning, slowly and deliberately, into what it is today.

We are not a large-scale cattery. We have never wanted to be. What we care about is producing kittens that are genuinely healthy, genuinely socialised, and genuinely matched to the right families, and doing that well is a full-time commitment in itself.

What We Breed

Four Breeds One Standard of Care

We specialise in four breeds, all sharing the same quiet elegance and devoted temperament that made us fall in love with flat-faced cats in the first place.

Himalayan kittens the jewel of the flat-faced world, with their long silky coats, always-blue eyes, and Siamese-style pointed markings. Calm, devoted, and deeply bonded to their people.

Exotic Shorthair kittens all the warmth and sweetness of a Persian in a short, dense, low-maintenance coat. Slightly more playful and adaptable than their long-haired cousins, and an ideal fit for busier households and apartment living.

Persian kittens one of the oldest and most beloved pedigree breeds in the world. Calm, quiet, and strikingly beautiful, in a wider range of coat colours and patterns than any other breed we work with.

Himalayan Munchkin kittens available on a limited, case-by-case basis. The Himalayan’s beautiful pointed coat and blue eyes combined with the Munchkin’s short legs and outgoing personality.

How We Raise Our Kittens

A Real Home Not a Cattery Facility

The environment a kitten grows up in shapes everything their confidence, their sociability, how they handle new places and people, how they settle into a new home. We take that seriously.

Our kittens are born and raised in our home, not in a cattery building or separate facility. They grow up around the sounds and rhythms of everyday life the television, the washing machine, doors opening and closing, visitors coming and going. They are handled from birth. They are never caged. By the time they leave for their new homes at 12 to 14 weeks, they have already lived a full early life, and it shows in how they settle.

We keep litter numbers manageable so that every kitten gets individual attention. We do not run multiple concurrent litters simply to increase output. Quality over volume is not a principle we compromise on.

Our placement policy

Kittens leave for their new homes at 1214 weeks never earlier. Full vaccination, vet examination, and microchipping are completed before any kitten leaves our care.

Our Health Standards

Health Testing as Standard Not an Afterthought

Every breeding cat at A Love 4 Paws is health tested before being included in our programme.

Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD1) a hereditary condition particularly relevant to Persian-lineage breeds, including Himalayans and Exotic Shorthairs. All our breeding cats are DNA-tested and PKD-negative.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) cardiac screening for breeding cats helps reduce the risk of this condition passing to kittens.

General health and temperament assessment we only breed from cats with clean health records and the kind of calm, affectionate temperament that defines these breeds at their best.

Every kitten leaving A Love 4 Paws receives a full veterinary examination, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and complete health documentation. We provide pedigree papers for kittens from registered lines.
