Persian Kittens Ready for Their Forever Home

The Breed

The Original Flat-Faced Cat Aristocratic by Nature

The Persian is one of the oldest recognised pedigree breeds in the world, with a documented history stretching back to 17th-century Persia and Europe. Selectively bred over centuries for their long silky coats, flat faces, and calm temperament, Persians are the archetype from which breeds like the Himalayan and Exotic Shorthair were later developed.

What sets the Persian apart from its relatives is coat variety. Where Himalayans are always pointed and Exotic Shorthairs have a short coat, the Persian comes in virtually every colour and pattern imaginable solid whites, blacks, creams, and blues; striking bi-colours; rich tabbies; tortoiseshells, calicos, and smoke patterns. If you have a colour preference, there is almost certainly a Persian that matches it.

Temperamentally, the Persian is the quietest and most serene of the three flat-faced breeds. They are not attention-seekers. They do not follow you from room to room with the same persistence as a Himalayan. Instead, they choose their spot usually somewhere soft and elevated, and radiate a calm, self-possessed presence that many owners find deeply restful to live with.

Centuries of breeding for one purpose: to be the most beautiful, most peaceful companion a home can have.

Temperament

What Living With a Persian Feels Like

Calm & Self-Possessed

The quietest of the flat-faced breeds. Persians settle into a home with minimal disruption, rarely vocalise, and seem entirely content to simply exist gracefully in your presence.

Quietly Devoted

Not demanding in the way some breeds are, but deeply loyal. A Persian will always find a spot near you. They show affection through proximity and an unhurried, steady companionship.

Gentle with Everyone

Patient with children, tolerant of other cats and calm dogs, and entirely non-aggressive. Their temperament is soft in the truest sense they rarely cause drama and don't respond well to it either.

Strictly Indoors

Their long coat, flat face, and trusting nature make Persians unsuited to outdoor life. They are purely indoor cats, and they are entirely content to be so, given the right enrichment.

Low Activity Level

Not a cat that needs daily play to stay sane. Persians are happy to observe from a comfortable perch. Short gentle play sessions a couple of times a day are plenty for most Persians.

Enormous Colour Variety

The widest coat colour range of any breed we work with solid, tabby, bicolour, tortoiseshell, smoke, calico, and more. If you have a colour in mind, there is likely a Persian in that pattern.

Pricing depends on coat colour, pattern, lineage, and pedigree registration. Well-bred Persian kittens from health-tested parents typically range from $1,500 to $4,500+. Current pricing is shown on each individual kitten listing.

Yes. We arrange safe, stress-minimised transport for kittens to families across the United States. We'll walk you through the full process and make sure your kitten travels comfortably.

Kittens leave for their new homes at 12–14 weeks of age, once they are fully weaned, vaccinated, and socialised. This timeline gives them the best possible start in their new environment.

Daily brushing is essential the Persian's long coat mats quickly without consistent maintenance. A wide-tooth comb or slicker brush used daily, plus a bath every four to six weeks, keeps the coat in good condition. Eyes also need a gentle daily wipe to prevent tear staining. Starting a grooming routine in kittenhood makes the process much easier as an adult.

Both have long coats and a similar calm temperament the main differences are markings and eye colour. Himalayans always have pointed colouring (darker face, ears, paws, and tail) and always have blue eyes, inherited from their Siamese ancestry. Persians come in a much wider range of colours and patterns, and can have copper, blue, or green eyes depending on their coat colour.

Yes, with one caveat. Their temperament is ideal for first-time owners: calm, gentle, forgiving, and low-drama. The commitment to grooming is the one thing first-time owners sometimes underestimate. If you're prepared to brush daily and wipe eyes each morning, a Persian is one of the most rewarding breeds you can own.
