Himalayan Kittens Ready for Their Forever Home

The Breed

Persian Warmth Siamese Beauty

The Himalayan sometimes called the “Himmy” combines the luxurious long coat and sweet temperament of the Persian with the striking blue eyes and colour-pointed markings of the Siamese. Despite that Siamese influence, the Himalayan personality is firmly Persian: calm, gentle, and deeply devoted to its family.

Developed through careful crossbreeding programmes in the 1930s and 1940s and officially recognised by the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) in 1957, Himalayans follow the “pointed” pattern darker face, ears, paws, and tail against a pale cream or white body. Point colours include seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream, tortie, and lynx, giving an enormous variety of looks within a consistent overall type.

Persian heart, Siamese eyes, and a devotion that's entirely their own.

Temperament

What Living With a Himalayan Feels Like

Gentle & Calm

Not excitable or demanding. Himalayans have a quiet, serene presence that many owners describe as genuinely soothing well-suited to calm households and a slower pace of life.

Deeply Affectionate

Unlike independent breeds, Himalayans genuinely want your company. They seek out laps, lean into strokes, and let you know softly when they feel they've been ignored too long.

Quiet Communicators

A soft, melodic voice used sparingly. You won't be woken at 5am demanding breakfast. A gentle chirp or a meaningful stare usually does the job.

Family Friendly

Patient and tolerant with children and calm dogs. They coexist peacefully with other cats too provided introductions are handled at their pace.

Indoor Cats by Nature

Their long coat, flat face, and trusting temperament make them vulnerable outside. Himalayans are happiest, and safest as indoor cats with plenty of enrichment.

Himalayan Munchkin Available

On occasion we also have Himalayan Munchkin kittens inheriting the pointed coat and blue eyes alongside the Munchkin's short legs. Sociable, curious, limited availability.

Himalayan Cat Personality and Temperament

Himalayans are among the most affectionate and people-oriented cats you will find. They thrive on human company and are happiest when they are near their favourite person, whether that means curled up beside you on the sofa or quietly following you from room to room.

Here is what life with a Himalayan typically looks like:

Gentle and calm. Himalayans are not excitable or demanding cats. They have a quiet, serene presence that many owners describe as genuinely soothing. They are well-suited to calm households and adapt comfortably to a slower pace of life.

Deeply affectionate. Unlike some independent breeds, Himalayans genuinely want your company. They will seek out laps, lean into strokes, and let you know softly when they feel they have been ignored too long.

Quiet communicators. Himalayans have a soft, melodic voice and use it sparingly. You will not be woken at 5am by a Himalayan demanding breakfast. A gentle chirp or a meaningful stare usually does the job.

Great with children and calm dogs. Their patient, tolerant nature makes them well-suited to family life, provided children are taught to handle cats respectfully. They also generally coexist well with other cats and calm, cat-friendly dogs.

Indoor cats by nature. Himalayans are not built for outdoor life. Their long coat, flat face, and trusting temperament make them vulnerable outside. They are happiest, and safest as indoor cats with plenty of enrichment.

Kittens leave for their new homes at 12–14 weeks of age, once they are fully weaned, vaccinated, and socialised. This timeline gives them the best start in their new environment.

More grooming-intensive than short-haired breeds daily brushing and regular face cleaning are part of life with a Himalayan. If you can commit to that, the reward is one of the most affectionate, devoted companions you'll find in the cat world.

Both are large, long-haired, blue-eyed, pointed cats with gentle temperaments. Key differences: Ragdolls are larger and more muscular, their coat is less dense and prone to fewer mats, and they have no Persian lineage. Himalayans tend to have flatter faces; Ragdolls have a more traditional cat profile.
